Abstract:With the rapid development of urbanization, it is not inevitable that NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) facilities appear in the city. Those facilities are beneficial to the whole city but bring our a negative impact of risk of psychology, honor and are often opposed by nearby residents, Because there are many kinds of environmental pollution and negative externalities existed, more and more NIMBY facilities will be refused by the nearby residents in many cities. Based on the analysis, firstly this paper summarizes the NIMBY research progress at home and abroad, then puts forward the importance of research of the NIMBY space. Through site survey, depth interviews, analysis of planning data of the case area, it presents the concept of NIMBY space, analyzes the formation mechanism, diffusion models and "point-line-square" types. On this theoretical basis, the study makes the empirical research with an example of Nanjing funeral NIMBY space. According the analysis of Nanjing Funeral NIMBY space, it supports the NIMBY space's life cycle of "production-squeeze-extinction-regeneration". The interactive texture "invasion-competition-coordination-fusion" will be experienced between NIMBY space and urban space, thereby the NIMBY space will have the space evolution rule of "edge-suburbs-urban-centered".
